Bennett Freeman (SVP Social Research and Policy, Calvert)

December 11, 2007

Bennett Freeman

Mr. Freeman doesn’t find himself “shackled” by controversy- he tackles it head-on. The former head of Burson-Marsteller’s corporate social responsibility practice, Freeman stood out in 2007 for his pragmatic approach to encouraging divestment from Sudan without inflicting harm on the Sudanese populace itself. Under the Freeman prescription, essential goods and services companies, such as food, beverage, pharmaceutical and safety equipment (i.e. the 3M Corporation), are allowed to continue to trade in the country.
