Third annual list recognizes top attorneys for their continuous support and advancement of corporate ethics and compliance worldwide.
PHOENIX, June 29, 2011 – The Ethisphere Institute announced today the publication of the third annual Attorneys Who Matter list recognizing more than 100 attorneys who have had a significant, positive impact on corporate ethics and compliance. The attorneys recognized on the 2011 Attorneys Who Matter list represent a wide range of legal experts from fields such as in-house compliance attorneys to government service agencies, to particular ethics and compliance issue specialists and ethics and compliance officers.
“For the third consecutive year, Ethisphere is proud to recognize more than 100 leading attorneys for their hard work and commitment to advancing corporate ethics and compliance,” said Tim Erblich, executive vice president for Ethisphere. “The Attorneys Who Matter is a collection of individuals that are leaders in their respective spaces and encourage the development of leading ethics and compliance programs around the globe.”
In order to create the annual list of Attorneys Who Matter, Ethisphere reviewed candidates against nine core criteria: recognized expertise; peer/client endorsements; high-profile litigation; number of cases won; high-profile clients; public service; legal community engagement; academic involvement; and other rewards and recognition received.
Members of the Ethisphere-Corpedia Joint Committee, who continue to make significant strides in the industry, are not eligible for the Attorneys Who Matter recognition.
In addition, Ethisphere welcomed two new attorneys to its “Hall of Fame” category, Ty Cobb from Hogan Lovells and John Steer from Allenbaugh, Samini & Ghosheh, which recognizes attorneys who have made lasting contributions to the advancement of corporate ethics and compliance.
Other attorneys recognized on this year’s list include:
- Mary Jo White – Debevoise & Plimpton (Top Guns)
- John Kocoras – McDermott, Will & Emery (Rising Stars)
- Preet Bharara – U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (Government Stars)
