Eric O. Morehead is the director for the Ethisphere Institute, a leading international think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability. In addition, Mr. Morehead serves as senior compliance counsel for Corpedia, a leading ethics, compliance and risk assessment consulting company located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Pior to joining Ethisphere and Corpedia, Mr. Morehead was the assistant general counsel for the U.S. Sentencing Commission where he helped develop national ethics and compliance standards related to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. Most recently, he acted as the chair of the Organizational Guideline Policy Team that authored the latest amendments to the guidelines, which took effect in November 2010. In addition, Mr. Morehead is well-versed in all facets of the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act (FCPA) including the regulations themselves, related investigations and comprehensive FCPA compliance implementation such as practical training, robust record-keeping and efficient oversight of overseas activity.
Mr. Morehead has more than ten years of experience in investigating compliance issues, developing compliance policy, and defending organizations and individuals against regulatory and criminal allegations. Prior to joining the Sentencing Commission, Mr. Morehead was the senior litigation associate for a premier white collar litigation boutique law firm in Houston and was responsible for dozens of complex cases involving federal and state investigations carried out by the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, various United States Attorneys, and many different regulatory agencies.
Mr. Morehead received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University and a Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law.
