Queens resident and unsatisfied iPhone customer, Dongmei Li, has sued Apple Inc., AT&T and Steve Jobs for price discrimination after the price of the iPhone dropped $200 less than two months after its debut.
Li’s attorney, C. Jean Wang, contends that there were no indications from the market that would have accounted for the drop in prices.
“iPhone was selling very well because Apple’s stocks were increasing since August 16, 2007 and rose as high as $144.16 on September 4, 2007, the day before Apple announced that it was cutting the price of iPhone,” Wang said.
Hundreds of customers complained the day following the price drop, resulting in a $200 rebate offer from Apple to those who bought the phone within 14 days of the reduction.
Because Li bought her iPhone soon after its release, she did not qualify for the rebate.
