Edelman had a lot of controversy swirling around him for the now-infamous Wal-Mart blog fiasco of 2006. However, he is a big-time proponent of social responsibility. His clients range from businesses (including Swiss Re and The Gap) to governments (such as Israel and Mexico). Corporate social responsibility is a self-proclaimed “favorite topic” of Mr. Edelman, and he uses that interest when consulting with clients. This year, Edelman has been busy traveling the globe advising many world leaders on the importance of CSR, not only for moral reasons, but to protect their businesses and economies as well.
