PLI/Ethisphere Compliance Series: Global Perspectives on FCPA: Africa

//Sponsored by the Ethisphere Council and the Practising Law Institute

planetEthisphere, in a joint effort with the Practising Law Institute, will be hosting a 12-part Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) web series. Each session will have an issue-related focus or will be devoted to the unique challenges of FCPA compliance and enforcement in different global arenas. Ethisphere is working with PLI to secure CLE accreditation for each of these webcasts. Each webcast is available for $299 through PLI. Members of the Ethisphere Council are invited to attend the series and download an archived version of the session free of charge.

Description:
FCPA enforcement has become a top priority for the DOJ and SEC in recent years. As globalization increases, it seems all but unavoidable that FCPA investigations and penalties for violations stand to grow in number, scale and severity. Join PLI and Ethisphere for Part 10 of 12 of the PLI/Ethisphere FCPA Compliance Series, Global Perspectives on FCPA: Africa.

Different countries present different types and levels of compliance challenges. Please plan to join expert faculty for a wide-ranging discussion on some of the challenges organizations face when doing business in Africa, a high risk area for multinationals that calls for unique attention and consideration.

Discussion Topics Will Include:

  • Growing international cooperation and enforcement of anti-corruption laws
  • In-house counsel perspectives and practical considerations for U.S. and U.S.-controlled businesses
  • Recent merger and acquisition developments and what those developments portend for the future
  • Practical strategies for mitigating international litigation risks

Faculty:

  • TBD

Date: September 9, 2008

Price: Free for Ethisphere Council Members ($299 for non-members)

CLE: CLE credit will be available for this event.

To Register: Registration will available through PLI. Please check back. Ethisphere members should email Erin Russell before registering in order to receive the Ethisphere Council Access Code and ensure that you will not be charged for the event.
