Ethisphere TO HOST SECOND-ANNUAL “BEST PRACTICES IN ETHICS COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOP” AT THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE OCTOBER 24

NEW YORK (Sept. 12, 2013) — Ethisphere, which annually selects the World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies, announced today that it will host the second-annual “Best Practices in Ethics Communications Workshop” in New York City on Oct. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT, at the New York Stock Exchange.  The workshop will focus on ethics as a key driver of corporate reputation.

The workshop is being coordinated by Ethisphere’s Communications Advisory Board, which is comprised of recognized leaders in the corporate communications profession — including communications executives from WME companies as well as individuals who bring expert perspectives from academia, the leading professional association for communications executives and the world’s largest public relations firm.

The workshop will feature expert commentary from industry leaders — combined with interactive discussion among all workshop participants — focused on key business issues and best practice sharing.  The event aims to bring together communications, legal and compliance senior executives as well as leaders from human resources, information technology and various staff and operational areas.

The robust dialogue around this year’s theme, “Working Across the C-Suite,” will include a dual focus:

  • Participants will delve into internal communication strategies that contribute to creating an ethical business culture that engages staff and enables organizations to earn and maintain WME recognition.
  • The audience will also explore external communication programs that highlight ethics as a differentiating brand attribute and positively position the business community with external stakeholder audiences.

“We are featuring some of the best thinking in the areas of corporate reputation management, corporate governance, and ethics and compliance to share best practices and explore new approaches that will benefit all organizations,” said Tim Erblich, chief executive officer of Ethisphere.

The agenda will feature a keynote address from Paul A. Argenti, professor of corporate communication and corporate responsibility at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and multiple best practice sharing presentations from WME companies.

The event also will include an expert panel — featuring Dana Perino, former White House press secretary, president of Dana Perino Communications and co-host of The Five on Fox News, and Holly J. Gregory, partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, among others — before moving into a breakout session facilitated by Dr. Edward Queen, director of the ethics and servant leadership program for Emory University’s Center for Ethics.

Gary Sheffer, vice president of communications and public affairs for General Electric and the next chairman of the Arthur W. Page Society, along with Roger Bolton, president of the Arthur W. Page Society, will present the “New Model for Corporate Communications,” which outlines a set of pragmatic actions for succeeding in today’s radically changing business environment.

Alex Brigham, executive director of Ethisphere, will also reflect on how companies are embedding ethics into their communications and cultures.  The event will conclude with a discussion of key lessons learned during the workshop, led by Erblich; Laura Kane, vice president of corporate communications for Aflac; and Ben Boyd, global chair for the corporate practice at Edelman.

“We are excited to bring this year’s workshop to the New York Stock Exchange’s iconic meeting facilities,” said Paul Gennaro, senior vice president and chief communications officer, AECOM Technology Corporation, a WME company for three consecutive years.  “Our positive feedback from the inaugural workshop last year was off the charts — and this year’s event looks to be even better,” added Gennaro, who also chairs Ethisphere’s Communications Advisory Board.

Interested parties can register here for a fee of $395 per attendee, which includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments and a networking reception immediately following the workshop, where participants will be able to meet some of the industry-leading speakers.
