Ethisphere Launches 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies® Insights Report

Initial Insights Report showcases data, programs and practices of leading companies

Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing standards of ethical business practices, announced today the launch of the first volume of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies Insights Report series. The report will be available for download following a webinar on April 17, 2019 at 1 p.m. EDT. The full report will be available here.

Derived through meticulous analysis of responses to the 2019 Ethics Quotient® (EQ) survey, the Insights Report provides a window into the latest data and trends reported by the 128 companies, representing 50 industries in 21 countries around the world, that earned the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies designation. In addition to being the basis of determining the annual list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, Ethisphere’s Ethics Quotient Survey (EQ) process is designed to capture information that leads to practical decision-making and the development of best practices in business ethics.

This initial Insights Report covers three primary areas where appreciable changes occurred in the past year:

  • Detection & Monitoring: how companies are establishing trust through transparency into the reporting process
  • Governance: how leading companies are engaging an increasingly diverse board of directors
  • Written Standards: how companies’ methods of communicating with a global workforce are changing

“Through our EQ survey, we capture valuable information from the best of the best when it comes to business ethics, governance and compliance,” said Erica Salmon Byrne, Ethisphere Executive Vice President. “Most professionals understand the value of key issues like diversity, tone from the top, codes of conduct and transparency, but they don’t always know how to apply this knowledge. The World’s Most Ethical Companies Insights Report provides ethics practitioners with the data needed to find their way to the best solutions.”

Complete with informative charts and graphical presentations of usable data, the Insights Report drives home the value of a first-rate ethics, compliance and governance program. Research contained in the report, including Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Premium data, shows that the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies designees have a 15 percent advantage in financial performance compared to the U.S. Large Cap Index over the past five years.

“Companies are under a microscope like never before, with stakes so high that it’s no longer acceptable or smart to think you have a strong compliance and ethics plan in place — you need data that prove your program is effective,” said Charlie Vanek, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Ethisphere. “The Insights Report provides that data-driven guidance on how to build a solid program while delivering important lessons on what leading companies measure as a barometer for success.”

All Ethisphere research, content and expertise, such as a recent special report on root cause taxonomy and data-driven insights, can be found on the Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA) member hub, which is made available to global members of BELA.
