Bill Coffin is the Editor-in-Chief of Ethisphere Magazine and supports the larger content strategy of Ethisphere. He is an internationally recognized writer and editorial leader in the fields of ethics, compliance, insurance and risk management. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Forbes and Fortune, as well as Compliance Week, National Underwriter, Risk Management, Best’s Review and other B2B media. Previously, Bill served as Director, Senior Editor at AIG, leading content strategy for one of the world’s largest insurance companies.
Bill has won numerous national journalism awards for his investigative work, including “Tragic Tale,” a profile of comic book writer Bill Mantlo, who fell through the cracks of the healthcare system after suffering a traumatic brain injury, and “The Darkness Within,” an examination of how health insurance excludes coverage for mental health care.
Bill lives in Oakhurst, NJ with his family, and is a published novelist, game designer and podcaster. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, and he actively campaigns along with fellow alumni, faculty and students for the removal of Robert E. Lee from the school’s name.
Neal is a senior compliance professional with expertise coordinating worldwide compliance programs for multinational corporations. His specialty areas include: compliance policy drafting and improvement, FCPA, UKBA, anti-corruption and bribery training, background screening, third-party vetting, survey, service agents/sponsorship, fraud risk review, compliance program review, international whistleblower hotline setup and maintenance, human resources (HR) and compliance issue investigations.
Prior to joining Ethisphere, Neal worked with Jacobs Engineering Group (formerly CH2M). In that role, Neal was part of CH2M’s Ethics and Compliance team, providing worldwide compliance program coordination with multiple Compliance Managers, the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, and various safety, security, human resources, audit, internal investigations, and operations stakeholders.
Emily Rickaby is Director, Shared Expertise and Strategic Projects for the Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA) at Ethisphere. In her role, she works with Ethisphere’s data and analytics team, members of the BELA community and other compliance and ethics professionals to foster collaboration and the sharing of best practices through the development of Ethisphere and BELA events, overseeing BELA working groups and directing the curation and publishing of relevant content resources and enhancing the BELA member hub experience in support of the BELA member community.
Emily has expertise in content development and instructional design in both the legal and corporate fields. Prior to joining Ethisphere, Emily worked for 8 years at Thomson Reuters in a Senior Content Development role for the West Legal Edcenter product. She also worked as a learning and development consultant for Wells Fargo and GE.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Master of Arts in Instructional Technology from the University of St. Thomas and a Juris Doctor from Mitchel Hamline Law School.
Eric is a Director on the Data & Services team at Ethisphere and specializes in the Ethics & Compliance program management, specifically the evaluation and implementation of corporate compliance and ethics solutions. His work includes evaluations of client programs, assessment of programmatic components, and operational thought leadership for clients.
Prior to joining Ethisphere, Eric has spent many years in the Insurance and Financial Services industry, primarily in Operations while concentrating on Quality Assurance and Compliance. Most recently, Eric was responsible for the Ethics Program at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America where his responsibilities included the Code of Conduct, Hotline and Investigations, Conflict of Interest, Training, Communications, and the advancement of the Company’s Culture.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History as well as a Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Dakota.
Jodie Fredericksen is Senior Compliance Counsel for Ethisphere. Ms. Fredericksen specializes in implementing corporate compliance solutions for Ethisphere’s clients. Her work includes providing clients with ethics and compliance thought leadership, drafting and revising policies that meet the highest legal and ethical standards, and evaluating clients’ ethics and compliance programs.
Prior to joining Ethisphere, Ms. Fredericksen worked for NYSE Governance Services, a leading ethics, compliance, and risk assessment consulting company located in Phoenix, Arizona. Ms. Fredericksen began working for the company in 2008, when it was formerly known as Corpedia Corporation. While working for NYSE Governance Services, Ms. Fredericksen drafted and revised corporate policies and codes of conduct, conducted ethics and compliance benchmarking reviews and performed risk assessments.
Ms. Fredericksen’s background also includes in-house experience, where she served as the Director of Compliance for IHS, a public company located outside of Denver, Colorado. In this role, Ms. Fredericksen maintained day-to-day responsibility for the company’s ethics and compliance program. Her responsibilities included overseeing and managing the company’s compliance policies and procedures, developing and conducting compliance training, conducting risk assessments and audits, as well as internal investigations.
Ms. Fredericksen spent the first half of her career in private practice, serving as a litigator specializing in the securities and enforcement defense field. Her practice focused on defending corporations and executives in connection with investigations instituted by, or enforcement actions before, the Securities and Exchange Commission. While the vast majority of these cases centered on improper accounting allegations, many included aspects related to breakdowns in corporate compliance programs as well. Her responsibilities typically included conducting internal investigations, appearing before the Securities and Exchange Commission, and litigating cases in federal court.
Ms. Fredericksen received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa and was an editor of the Iowa Law Review.
