Phoenix, AZ, August 17, 2021 – Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing standards of ethical business practices, announces today that top companies representing a range of industries—technology, insurance, pharmaceuticals, telecoms, engineering and consumer goods, among others—have joined the Business Ethics Leadership Alliance (BELA), a global community of governance, ethics and compliance leaders collaborating on best practices.
As BELA members, these organizations can tap resources including a newly launched working group research report: Data Privacy and Privacy Assessment Essentials Guide in partnership with the BELA Compliance and Privacy Working Group with contributors from ADM, Dell, Eaton, FedEx, Panasonic Corporation of North America, Royal Caribbean, and Teradata. “Ethisphere has always been committed to ‘championing the champions’ of ethics and compliance. The BELA community brings together these leaders in a way that not only showcases their vital and impressive work, but also connects these thought leaders to one another so that all can benefit,” said Kevin McCormack, Senior Vice President, and Executive Director, BELA. “We are delighted to welcome these new members to the BELA community and look forward to their contributions to advancing business integrity.”
“The projects in our industry are remarkably complex, especially as we consider the array of multinational considerations which continually raise the bar for compliance leaders,” said Beth Colling, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for CDM Smith. “The access to the resources, data, and shared expertise within the BELA community has real substance and purpose that can enable us all to be better business partners and innovators no matter the complexity of work. The representation within BELA, not just in engineering and construction but also companies that span numerous industries, tells us that we have just as much support as we have to contribute around compliance, risk management, and governance. We are excited to build our partnership with this community.”
“The last 18 months has taught us that the global business community has a responsibility to come together, with integrity and compassion, particularly during a crisis. As COVID-19 and its variants continue to take a toll on our communities, it is essential that we as business leaders endeavor to provide solutions that will get our world back on track in what will undoubtedly be a new environment,” said Suprio Dasgupta, President & Global Head – Legal, Compliance, IP and Corporate Affairs, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. “We are pleased to join the ranks of the BELA community, which provides a conduit to share ideas and advance key initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our world moving forward. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals is proud to engage with this community and we look forward to making a difference, not only in the healthcare field, but throughout the overall business ecosystem.”
“As ethics and compliance leaders, we are forging a new path for issues where guidelines are still evolving, such as ESG. BELA provides expertise and examples of how organizations across industries are approaching these consequential topics. We look forward to collaborating with peer companies to define a successful way forward,” stated Bill Brierly, Vice President and Head of Compliance and Ethics at Liberty Latin America, a leading telecommunications company across Latin America and the Caribbean.
BELA member organizations, inclusive of academic institutions, represent more than 60 industries headquartered in 15 different countries. It has become a pivotal platform of connected leadership dedicated to progressing company standards and practices across global and regional business ecosystems.
Through an inherent global desire to advance integrity and improve business performance, in 2017 BELA expanded to South Asia. The South Asia Chapter includes a community of select Founding Member companies and “integrity partners” who have taken on a leadership role in inspiring best practices in ethics, integrity, and anti-corruption efforts across India and South Asia. Applying a similar model, BELA’s new chapter expansion has reached the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
